Jeffrey Klein Honored by Nevada State Medical Association

Jeffrey Klein, President and CEO of Nevada Senior Services was honored to be the recipient of the Nicholas J. Horn Award by the Nevada State Medical Association (NSMA). This award is the highest honor given by NSMA and is made “in recognition of Klein’s decades of service to the people of Nevada and his tremendous contributions to the health and welfare of our state.” The award was presented by Dr. Jerry Reeves, Medical Director at Comagine Health, at the Nevada State Medical Association 120th Presidential Installation Dinner. Klein stated “that he accepts this honor as recognition of the important work to care for our communities most vulnerable seniors by the dedicated staff of Nevada senior Services. We stand on the shoulders of our mentors and colleagues who have laid the foundation for our work.”

Mr. Klein holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Temple University, Philadelphia, and is board certified as a Fellow by the American College of Health Care Executives. He currently serves on the board and executive committees of both the American Society on Aging and the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP) of which he is a Vice-Chair. Previously Klein served as Chair of Nevada Commission on Aging’s Legislative Sub-Committee for 12 years and on the Nevada Commission On Aging. Currently, he is a member of the UNLV School of Health Sciences Advisory Board.

Nicholas J. Horn served medicine and the people of Nevada as an educator, a State Senator (1983-1992), and as Executive Director of the Clark County Medical Society (1986-1992). By an action of the House of Delegates, he became the only layperson-member of the Nevada State Medical Association. After his death in 1992, an annual public service recognition award was established in his name to honor his many contributions to organized medicine and to the state of Nevada.
